Just back from a week in San Francisco and Yosemite Park, where my sister-in-law got married. I found these old London postcards at The General Store in the outer sunset. They're puzzle-games where you're supposed to cut out the colored pictures and arrange them in various geometric configurations, some of 'cabalistic significance.' The horsey headgear worn by the Buckingham Palace guards is pretty amazing.

Last week we spent a lovely couple of days with Raffael and his girlfriend, who were passing through the countryside on their way to Montreal. We had such a fun time! So nice to kick back at the old swimming hole and talk music. Before he left Raffael gave me the most amazingly generous gift, a Swiss educational book about children's theater. Totally amazing. Thank you!!!

Sing Unto the Lord a New Song features some very hip eyewear and an unexpected electronic piece by Richard Felciano of the San Francisco Tape Music Center. I love this photo of the liturgical dancer throwing shapes in front of the choir. There is a nice shambolic cover of a John Ylvisaker song as well. I swear, progressive churches in the 60s were like hothouses for mixed-media experimentalism.

Some stills from a never-aired Chris Marker TV show called The Owl's Legacy. Amazing spectral TV, in so many different ways. Talking heads and eavesdropping owls track the shifting meanings of ancient Greek concepts as they travel through time. And there is some excellent footage of Berkeley profs drinking wine in the Greek Theater. Watch all 13 episodes here.
