Some stills from "Glitterball" and "A Hitch in Time," two sci-fi Children's Film Foundation productions from the late 70s (full episodes
here and
here). Both are ace! A little time travel, some alien ping-pong balls, wacky professors, etc. Cool radiophonic-style moogery by Harry Robertson on both films. There are more and more CFF titles on Youtube lately --
Black Island is also really good. More info on the CFF
here.
Only in the 70's could those pyjamas be considered a viable idea. I used to have as pair: they came in either wool or plastic, both were highly flammable.
ReplyDeleteThe kid looks like Beck.
ReplyDeleteNah, Beck looks like that kid.
ReplyDelete'A Hitch In Time' is my favourite CFF film, mostly due to Harry Robertson's soundtrack. Of course, Mr Robinson also composed the soundtrack to everyone's favourite Substation PIF.

Thanks, I've been wondering who did the music for that. Coolest PIF ever.
ReplyDeleteIt's usually assumed that the Play Safe soundtracks were library music.
ReplyDeleteHarry R was a great pop arranger, as well as a brilliant electronic composer.
Sorry to say that Mr Robertson's (sometimes known as Robinson) PIF works aren't registered in the MCPS database, so they're impossible to track down. Shame really, as they would make a great compilation. I've tried to trace all this stuff myself, without success.

Ha, I thought it was library music! I had never heard of Robertson until the other day. Seems like a super interesting guy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Robinson_%28musician%29
ReplyDeleteThree words: 'Hawk The Slayer'. Disco + panpipes = genius.
