Bringing It All Back Home

Something I'm watching for work, a 1987 film on the Docklands and labor migrations by Chrissie Stansfield of the all woman production company, the Sheffield Film Co-op. Also watching this, about the Grunwick film processing strike in late 70s (peep the weird electronic soundtrack...)

Jam Money

This is Blowing Stones, the new record by Jam Money. What a lovely record! Whenever I put it on either myself or my wife says out loud how good it is. Jam Money is Mat Fowler and Kevin Cormack with paintings by Aimée Henderson. I love the paintings on the sleeve. The songs are paintings too, little color studies of the everyday and its mysteries. I love how there's no citational baggage here, or none recognizable to me. Just people in the kitchen and living room and studio making sense of things by making art together. Brilliant, especially on vinyl so that you can hold Aimée's paintings in your hands. More info.
