Fantastic! I've got a couple like this. I'm wondering: was there a big thing for elaborate masks for nippers during that period (and if so where did it come from?) or does the discovery of a few books just make it seem that way? I'm about the right age to have experienced it at the time but I can only remember doing the usual paper-mache-over-a-balloon job.
Oh wow. This has been a steady part of my inspiration/reference for many years! Have made most of them at this point (and, I'll admit, used the images for a few different posters here and there)...
