Donika Venkova
Found some cool Bulgarian records. I love the flag-like bright colors and type, and the glasses are just too good. In the first record somebody fires up a drum machine for a while. The second record (Emil Something-or-other) is not very good -- I was fooled by the lipstick and liner notes mentioning moog and melotron. But it's still fun to listen to if you imagine the singer is an off-duty vampire who only wants to sing.

Love the way those bright colors are printed and the first 15 seconds of the song are really promising...
ReplyDeleteI also like your off-duty vampire theory, sounds plausible!
ha ha, yeah everything goes wrong after about 15 seconds. but i admire emil's hair and vampirism.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely Emil Dimitrov - Bulgarian 60-70's variety superstar.
ReplyDeleteHe's got a really psyched-out album, which came out in 1974 - right before the one you have. It's a double album and it has a lot of great songs on it, actually.
Cool, I think they had that album at the shop too. Deceptively un-cool cover though? Can't remember.
ReplyDeleteIt's this one: http://www.discogs.com/%D0%95%D0%BC%D0%B8%D0%BB-%D0%9F%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BC%D0%BE-%D0%B4%D0%BE-%D0%BC%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%B0/release/3872427
