I've been listening to a lot of Los Angeles Free Music Society lately. Can anyone school me on these folks please? I only know this ten-CD retrospective, but that's probably more than enough to chew on for now. Beautiful art-damaged noise skronk. I like how they wear signature hats, like a pyramid version of Devo's tiered energy domes. Since the ten CDs are a little overwhelming, here's a somewhat random mix of twenty tunes I like (best listened to on shuffle).
Jackie & Rick from Smegma are in LAFMS now and again!
ReplyDeleteahh... they are portland people now right?
Deleteyeah, super nice folks!
DeleteI love this Ben! Thank you, I just had a lovely moment with this unexpected beauty and some gin and elderflower tonic! Also, the 'I Remember' post - wonderful, Trish had that book - it's really compelling. I haven't watched the film yet, but I am looking forward to it. Yet again, some T&T magic . . . . . . .
ReplyDeleteooo that sounds so good... there's an elderflower drink called st germaine that we love... i really want that joe brainard book now. the film is so beautiful -- matt is so talented... i was crying by the end.
DeleteIn case you don't already know it, Tom Recchion solo work is great. See 'Chaotica' or 'I Love My Organ' are brilliant off-kilter exotica & easy listening cut-up/tape loop collages.
ReplyDeletethanks andrew. yeah, recchion's seem the most polished and musical of the bunch.
